Seasons

Where we live part time in South Africa, we can distinguish the definite four seasons clearly each year. It is either fall, winter, summer or spring! They sometimes arrive slowly and without any official announcement. And sometimes they arrive with a loud It is Time! Oh, the beauty of seasons and the wisdom in seasons.

It reminds me of the seasons we all go through in life. And mostly we have seasons within seasons. Embrace every season and the growth it brings. Let the cycles complete and live everyday to the fullest.

Summer

Oh summer with its luscious grees and bright colours! It is a time of plenty and abundance. Sweet, ripe fruits and bountiful, beautiful flowers everywhere. Bees working to make the most of this season. Long days and short nights. Hot days and beautiful, cool evenings. Families and friends visiting, children playing outside. swimming pools and beach holidays. Summer rains falling and thunder and lighting. This is truly a time of awe.

It is the time in our lives where we experience all the goodness and energy of normality. Everything is relatively easy and easy going.

Fall

Then slowly the heat exchange for cooler weather. What a relief! With fall a unique calmness settles on the earth, an abdication from what is wanted to what is. A comforting equanimity. Dead leaves and flowers fall to the ground in the great expectation to give back what had been their source of life and beauty. It is time for harvest and storing up for the cold day to come.

Fall is a time to reflect on things unneccessary and to let them go. Even if it is hurtful at times, it will create the neccessary space for the new to appear. Even if it is hard to let go of things that don’t serve you anymore, it will be the best in the end.

Winter

Winter says: Here I come whether you are ready or not! Winter with its harshness and finality. Naked trees against an icy cold sky. Too little sun to warm the days. While everything appears dead on the outside, there is a lot of growth going on deep down inside. Roots are growing longer, searching for deeper wells of water and nutrients to feed the tree. Winter with it’s slow down vibe. Shouldn’t we get up later, go to bed earlier, falling into the rhythm of the seasons more? Cosy hours in front of a fireplace, warm drinks and fluffy throws.

It can be a beautiful time of making way for what makes life truly meaningful. Grow your roots in this time to gather the strength and resilience to be ready when new life arrives.

Spring

In our garden spring arrived with a shy little yasmine opening up to greet the warmer days. Young flowers everywhere ready to show off the magnificence of their intrigate beauty and fragrance. Young, adventurous leaves on every tree, ready to catch the rays of the sun and producing life and food. Joyous bird chirping along each unique in the song they sing. All is eagerly celebrating the beauty of life in a beautiful symphony.

If there is a spring season ahead of you, be ready, arms open wide. Make the most of this beautiful season. Let the beauty and frangrance you were created for, be released in abundance!

Winter is gone, spring time is here!
